WHAT IS CAREFREE STONE?
Carefree Stone is a unique, porous surfacing material designed for patios, pool decks, walkways, driveways, and all other outdoor areas. It is also used indoors.
IS IT ARTIFICIAL?
No. Carefree Stone is composed entirely of the world's most beautiful natural stones, pebbles, or marble chips. It is completely natural---a surface created by nature itself--- so much in keeping with today's indoor outdoor look.
WHAT HOLDS STONES IN PLACE?
Each individual stone is coated with an "invisible shield" of high quality, UV resistant epoxy. This epoxy bonds each stone to the stone next to it, and bonds all stones to the sub-surface below them to form a permanent locked-in place surface that is considerably stronger than concrete!
WHY IS CAREFREE STONE SO STRONG?
Epoxy is the strongest bonding material created by modern scientific technology. For example, epoxies are used to bond the skins of Nasa equipment. This product is very resistant to the Arizona sun.
CAN YOU DRIVE A CAR ON CAREFREE STONE?
Absolutely. One of the basic uses of Carefree Stone is for the most beautiful driveways and parking areas imaginable.
HOW LONG WILL IT HOLD UP?
Carefree Stone is one of the most durable surfaces ever created. When ancient man wanted to build eternal monuments, he used stone---the most durable natural substance on earth. Carefree Stone too is composed of natural stone---stone that has been pre-selected for toughness and hardness as well as for beauty. The epoxy that coats this stone is stronger than the stone itself!
DO THE SUN'S RAY'S AFFECT CAREFREE STONE?
Carefree Stone is structurally resistant to the sun's rays. It does not break down even in direct sunlight year after year! However due to ultra-violet rays of the sun in Arizona, it is recommended that Carefree Stone be pressure washed and re-glazed every 2-3 years. Nothing is maintenence free in the valley of the sun.
WHY IS IT POROUS?
Each stone in a Carefree Stone surface has a thin coating of high quality epoxy, but there is space between the stones. So, just as water drains between through a pebble or sand surface, water drains through Carefree Stone instantly! This porosity is designed into Carefree Stone to eliminate puddles.
IS CAREFREE STONE NON-SKID?
Since Carefree Stone is totally porous, there is never any water lying on the surface. But like terrazzo, marble, flagstone or other surfaces that become slippery Carefree Stone can become slippery as well. No more slippery than kool-deck though.
IS CAREFREE STONE MAINTENENCE FREE?
No surface is totally maintenence free. But a Carefree Stone surface is about as close as you can get. Outdoors (or indoors with proper drainage). Just hose it down. Oil drip from your car on the driveway? pour on some detergent and hose it down. No stain! Again, Carefree Stone will need to be pressure washed and recoated when it loses it's luster. This is caused by the sun's ultra-violet rays.
DO YOU SEE THE EPOXY?
The epoxy on each pebble makes a glistening shiny texture that brings out the natural color of the stone with radiant brilliance.
HOW SOON CAN YOU USE A NEW CAREFREE STONE SURFACE?
Twenty-four hours after installation, you can walk on it. Within forty-eight hours, you can drive on it. For restaurants and stores an installation can actually be done at night and be ready for foot traffic the very next morning. no loss of business!
HOW BIG ARE THE STONES?
The stones or marble chips you select will depend upon the particular functions of your surface. Stock sizes varyfrom fine and up 5/16 inch. For pool/patio where you will walk barefoot wou will prefer a smooth pebble-completely comfortable walking surface.
CAN I MIX COLORS?
Definitely. The stones come in a wide variety of colors--all in the beautiful hue of the natural stone. A Carefree Stone surface can be composed of different stones mixed together to create exciting combinations! Each installation can be custom designed to clients desires.
CAN YOU CREATE PATTERNS AND DESIGNS?
Yes. Since Carefree Stone is trowled directly on the job site we can create designs and patterns. Your imagination is the only limit!
