Is Concrete Staining right for your space?
Use this quick fit check before reviewing the process and estimate details.
A good fit for
- Interior floors, patios, and walkways with a sound, existing slab
- Homeowners who want rich, natural color without a thick coating
- Office lobbies, showrooms, and living spaces wanting a warm, stone-like look
- Projects where variegated, earth-toned color is the goal, not flat paint
Consider another system for
- Garages needing hot-tire and chemical resistance — see garage epoxy
- Heavily cracked or spalled slabs, which need overlay or repair first
- Anyone expecting perfectly uniform, paint-like color
What customers say about the finished work
"We love our garage floor! The workmanship was excellent with clear communication and follow through. I highly recommend Carefree Stone."
"We have had our Kool Deck resurfaced six times in 14 years. Each time, the company made it worse. Puddles formed when..."
What can go wrong without the right system
Uneven color expectations
Acid and water-based stains react with the slab's own chemistry, so natural variation and mottling are part of the look, not a defect. We set expectations and can review samples before committing to a color.
Skipped neutralization
Acid stain residue left on the slab keeps reacting after application and can discolor or damage the sealer if it is not fully neutralized and rinsed.
Wrong sealer for the location
Interior and exterior stained floors need different sealers. The wrong choice wears fast, dulls quickly, or fails to protect the color underneath.
What's included
- Deep penetrating acid stain reactions
- UV-stable water-based dyes
- Variegated, earthy, and natural tones
- Sealed with protective urethanes or epoxies
How installation works
- 01
Chemical Prep & Clean
Neutralizing the slab, grinding or scrubbing to achieve a clean, porous foundation free of sealers.
- 02
Stain Application
Spraying or scrubbing acid or water-based stains to achieve custom color patterns and chemical reactions.
- 03
Neutralization & Wash
Neutralizing acid residues and rinsing the concrete clean to lock in color reactions and prep for sealer.
- 04
Clear Protective Seal
Applying two coats of protective UV-stable clear sealer with optional slip-resistance aggregates.

What we'll review for your estimate
We'll review the slab, preparation, system, access, and when you need the space back in use.
- Square footage of the area to be stained
- Acid vs. water-based dye selection
- Number of colors and pattern complexity
- Existing sealer or coating removal
- Sealer type — acrylic, epoxy, or urethane
